Mechanical
decoating
The mechanical removal of PVD layers is carried out mainly by sandblasting. Aluminum oxide (corundum) is used as the abrasive medium. The mechanical decoating is advantageous especially in the case of large inner covers of the coating device. It can also be used to remove coatings from jigs and fixative components that do not have high requirements for preventing destruction, maintaining external dimensions after the sandblasting and particularly on the roughness of the formed surface. The ability to remove any coating regardless of its chemical composition or structure is the advantage of mechanical decoating.
+
Removal of any coating
Quick removal of very thick layers
A metallically clean surface can be achieved
-
Surface roughening
Gradual destruction of the jig /tool
Deformation of thin sheets
Dusty environment
